Deinotherium Official Release - Everything You Need to Know!

The Deinotherium is the newest creature added to ARK: Survival Ascended, and it's already making a big impression! This giant elephant-like beast is powerful, social, and full of surprises. Here’s everything we know so far.

What is the Deinotherium?

The Deinotherium is a massive prehistoric mammal that looks like an ancient elephant. It has big tusks that curve downward from its lower jaw, making it easy to recognize.

You’ll usually find them in herds of 5 to 7. They are protective of each other and will attack if you get too close. If you mess with one, you’re probably fighting all of them!

Males vs. Females

The Deinotherium has sexual dimorphism, meaning males and females look different:

• Males have longer tusks and a beard.
• Females have shorter tusks and no beard.

This difference also affects their abilities when tamed (more on that below).

How to Tame a Deinotherium

You can’t just knock this creature out with tranqs. Taming is a special passive method, and it’s only available when you reach level 95.

Taming Steps:

1 - Separate One from the Herd
You can’t tame one while it’s in a group. Either kill the others or lure your target away.

2 - Watch Its Behavior
It will show you signs of how it feels:

• Ears open, trunk rolled up = Safe to approach and feed.
• Ears open, trunk extended = It’s angry. Stay back!

3 - Feed It Beer Jars
Put a Beer Jar in the last slot of your hotbar. When the creature is calm, go under its head and it will grab the Beer from you.

4 - Repeat
Wait for the next calm moment and feed it again. Do this until it’s fully tamed.

Why Tame a Deinotherium?

Once tamed, the Deinotherium is a great all-around creature for fighting, gathering, and supporting your team.

Combat

• Very strong and tanky.
• Can stomp enemies and break through natural armor.
• Good for both PvE and PvP.

Resource Gathering

• Uses its trunk swipe to collect lots of wood and thatch quickly.

Group Buffs

The Deinotherium gives helpful bonuses to allies:

• Male Buff: +15% more damage to nearby creatures.
• Female Buff: +5% damage resistance. This stacks up to 3 times (max +15%).

These buffs make a group of Deinotheriums especially powerful together.

⚠️ Be Careful in the Wild

Fighting wild Deinotheriums can be dangerous:

• They’re fast for their size.
• They attack in groups.
• They have lots of health and hit hard.

But they also have a big turning radius, so fast creatures can dodge them more easily.

The Deinotherium is a fun and powerful addition to ARK: Survival Ascended. It’s a challenge to tame, but once you have one, it’s super useful for battles, gathering, and supporting your tribe. Just don’t try to take on a whole herd unprepared!
