Studio Wildcard has released the Lost Colony Expansion Pass for ARK: Survival Ascended, launching on June 19, 2025 at a price of $29.99. The pass includes new gameplay features and tames that will be available before the full expansion launches in December. This content is intended to give players early access to tools that expand building, exploration, and progression.
Available Now: Day 1 Content (June 19, 2025)
Here's everything included with the Expansion Pass, available from day one:
Drakelings
Drakelings are small shoulder-mounted creatures with four seasonal variants. Each form provides unique passive effects, visual elements, and support abilities. They can also be wielded for light combat and utility.
Veilwyn
Veilwyn is a support-focused creature offering area-based buffs that enhance movement speed, damage, or defense. It is designed to scale into late-game content, with the option to evolve into one of two advanced forms once the full expansion is released.
New Skill Tree System
Players can now progress using a new system based on milestone achievements rather than traditional XP. Points can be invested in one of three trees:
Beastmaster – focused on taming and creature synergy
Pathfinder – focused on mobility and exploration
Survivor – focused on crafting, utility, and gathering
Template Hammer
This building tool allows players to save sections of their base as reusable templates. These templates can then be placed again elsewhere, streamlining construction and improving consistency in large builds.
TEK Bunker
The TEK Bunker unlocks new underground building opportunities. It enables secure subterranean construction, adding vertical complexity and new strategies for base layout and defense.
DarkTek Cosmetics
The DarkTek cosmetic set includes gothic sci-fi themed armor skins, a sword skin, and a Drakeling variant. These visual items offer personalization without gameplay advantages.
Coming Later: ARK Lost Colony (Full Expansion Launch - December 2025)
The full Lost Colony expansion is scheduled for release in December 2025. It continues ARK’s main storyline and introduces a new environment, Arat Prime.
Key Features:
A narrative campaign featuring Michelle Yeoh as Mei Yin
Cinematic sequences produced by MAPPA Studios
New “Lost” skill trees, creatures, and gear tiers
Expanded TEK systems and underground base options
Introduction of hostile factions tied to the ARK storyline
The expansion serves as a lore bridge between Extinction, Genesis, and the future of the franchise in ARK 2.
Arat Prime is not just another map. It is a heavily detailed city biome with open-world and underground sectors, story instanced areas, and large-scale PvE and PvP zone potential.
Should You Buy the Expansion Pass?
The Expansion Pass provides access to content that integrates with current ASA gameplay, offering utility-focused features and new progression tools. While not required for the main game, it provides early access to systems that will be expanded in December. Players focused on preparation, building, or support gameplay may find these additions useful.
